After four years, The Crossing @ Christmas returns to enhance the holidays of a much larger Crossing family. In the candlelit, old-world setting of St. Paul’s Church in Chestnut Hill, we offer the East Coast premieres of Alpha and Omega by James MacMillan, and the complete Three Carols for Wintertide by Benjamin C.S. Boyle. This concert offers selections from our Public Radio International broadcast entitled Christmas Daybreak (after Robert Convery’s beautiful Rossetti setting) heard throughout the world this holiday season. At the center of the program is a world premiere by Zachary Wadsworth for double choir and organ, Gabriel’s Message, which will feature Scott Dettra & special guests and co-commissioners, The Choir of Saint Paul’s Church. With lovely contributions from Gabriel Jackson and Kerry Andrew, the evening is delicately woven together with Norwegian lullabies arranged by Frank Havrøy, whose Psalm is featured on our 2011 CD, It is Time.
