Conversation with Donald, Ted, and Ashley at 3pm

Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Katonah, NY

Our Summer 2021 Caramoor debut was nearly rained out, but we quickly switched gears and gave a concert we loved: in the round, with the sound of rain lightly falling on the marvelous undulating ceiling of their Venetian Theater. In the process, we made friends...and discovered a shared ethos of flexibility and adventure. Collaboration #2 was a given.

We’re packing up the whole production and bringing it to Katonah and Caramoor’s beautiful grounds—an outdoor setting seemingly made for a work about food, people, and plants.

FARMING, a stirring new work by Ted Hearne written for The Crossing, grapples with the impact of settler colonialism on current labor practices from tech to agriculture. Texts are drawn from William Penn and Jeff Bezos, among other sources. Scored for 24 vocalists with guitars, percussion and electronics, the performance will be set near Caramoor's pastoral Sunken Garden allowing the audience to explore and listen to this explosive work as it unfolds.

Design by Nia Easley, Pablo Santiago, Carolina Ortiz, Rebecca Kanach and Paul Vasquez.
